Greenville Textile Heritage

We have recently joined the Greenville Textile Heritage Society Chorale.  We are having fun singing with other folks our age or older who remember the mill villages and worked in the mills here in Greenville. Not to my surprise, there is a large number of Parker High alumni in the chorale. And one is also a Carson-Newman grad!  We are preparing a performance for Oct. 3rd during Textile Heritage Week.  We will be singing at the Upcountry History Museum.  Our theme is "A Sentimental Journey," so we will be doing a sort of hit parade of the 1940's with a special tribute to our WWII vets. Its going to be good!  Just wish we could get some more women to join the chorale.  Our men tend to overpower the ladies! We could use about ten more sopranos and five more altos to really balance the group.  We are rehearsing Thursday evenings at Sans Souci Baptist Church.

The Greenville Textile Heritage Society Chorale represents a diverse group of singers sharing a love of music and their common heritage. Initially most either attended Parker High School or grew up in one of Greenville's textile mill villages; however, interest in the Chorale has grown and the group has warmly included anyone who loves to sing and has an interest in the textile heritage of our area. Those who had the privilege of growing up in the textile communities are proud of their heritage and want to preserve their wonderful memories of days gone by.

The Chorale was formed in March 2010 under the direction of Mrs. Judy Edwards and is accompanied by Mr. Randy Blackburn. The Chorale made their debut performance at the God and Country Rally held on June 27, 2010 at the Legacy Charter School Parker Auditorium.
